Description
PWP designed the landscape within and around a cancer-research center at Stanford University. The landscape features 1. an atrium with a scrim of forest bamboo that provides a linear green buffer for the two banks of offices and 2. a sculpture garden planted with hedges and live oak. Paved with elongated concrete bricks of golden yellow, the atrium provides the building with an outdoor entry space and a terrace for an outdoor café. The entry steps and ramp lead down from the atrium to a paved and planted plaza that connects the building at grade to the entrance of the Beckman Center and the major pedestrian paths to the rest of the medical school and the main campus.
